It streamlines the Opening – notch operation by replacing the manual iterative search for proper geometry with an instant solution. Note that the algorithm checks the access hole strictly against the selected standard (AISC or AWS), not both simultaneously.
In IDEA StatiCa Connection, in Seismic design geometry with AISC Design code, there are two types of access hole autodesign:
- by the AISC Seismic Design Manual or
- by AWS D1.8 - 6.11.1.2
The function is fully compatible with the Opening – notch operation.
